“Begin with the end in mind” – this is my motto, which means I determine the kind of person I want to become before taking actions. Before starting my two-year Associate Degree programme at the College, I was already well-prepared to face new challenges. Unlike most of my peers, I didn’t hold a strong competitive mindset. Instead, I approached things with a sense of normalcy. In fact, you can achieve good results in the assessments if you are dedicated and serious enough. I often study with a sincere heart and engage in appropriate extracurricular activities and placements. Finally I was able to progress to the university.

Having received an university offer is a reward and a confirmation of my hard work. To most of the students, entering the university after HKDSE is the most straight forward way. To me, studying for an associate degree suits me more. Throughout the two years of study at HPSHCC, I met lecturers who are passionate to teach, student counsellors who gave useful advice to students, and friends who fought alongside with me. All of them gave me the motivation to learn and work hard. I was surrounded by supportive people.

I always wanted to be in the law enforcement and that’s why I chose this programme as my study. The programme is well designed and structured. Besides classroom teaching and field visits, students have the opportunities to learn from guest speakers who are members of the police force.
In addition, the College arranges internships with various government departments for students. These experiences enriched my knowledge and enabled me to prepare well for my future studies.

Two years ago, I resisted studying an Associate Degree as well as felt that I was inferior to others. However, I feels like I am proud of myself and it became an important turning point in my life after two years. During these two years, I not only gained some knowledge from my studies but also changed an attitude toward my life. For instance, I will not underestimate myself anymore and have learned how to communicate with others. The most crucial thing is it has broadened my horizon. It makes me know what the meaning of strong is and shows the real society that we are going to connected with, through many kinds of camping and internships. These have become my precious experiences in my Associate Degree. At last, I think you should find something interesting to encourage or motivate your life during studying rather than wasting your time. I strongly believed that it will become the happiest experience and memory in your life.

Studying an Associate Degree programme is not an academic failure, it is rather like a pitstop for personal growth and redefining your goal. In these two years, I have learnt to appreciate and grasp opportunities, always try to do the best we can. I am motivated to learn in progress as majority of us at the College shared the similar goal. Alongside with the support and guidance from our lecturers, specifically in the social sciences stream, I am able to understand different social situations and hence bridging the University syllabus. The College Student Counsellors have also helped me a lot in planning my future ahead.

After getting poor results in the public exam, I wanted to keep pursing my dream in the College. I had a wonderful time with my schoolmates and lecturers, who motivated my learning. Moreover, there were different courses for me to study, which broadened my knowledge in the field of social sciences. Also, the College provides a wide variety of activities to students, such as the Leadership Training Camp, and Criminal Justice and Law Enforcement Training Camp. After joining these activities, students can have a great experience and develop their leadership skills. If you are willing to try your best and study hard in the College, I am sure that you can achieve your target.

'How can we do better without working extra miles in a second time?' This question has been my motto to propel myself to endure and work out the best of me in every learning opportunity. This is important to me because I always believe chances are only reserved for those who made additional preparation. The greater the ambition, the stronger the morale is. I just ask whenever something comes into questions and devote wholeheartedly when facing with challenges and tasks. Frankly, the lecturers and further studies guidance are indeed significant in my study.
